How did you decide to attend Wisconsin? How did you decide your major? What was your favorite college memory?

I chose Wisconsin because it had a great combination of strong academic programs, plentiful opportunities for extracurriculars and research, and a stellar community environment in Madison. I didn’t know what career I wanted as a freshman, so I studied multiple subjects in science, business, and the liberal arts. Over time, I became more interested in healthcare through my internships at medical associations, so I chose neurobiology as well as economics to grow business acumen.

My favorite college memory was in fall 2021 when 12 friends and I took a road trip to Door County in Wisconsin. We stayed in a cozy log cabin and went swimming, toasted marshmallows over a fire, and hiked in the beautiful Wisconsin fall weather. Best weekend ever.

Why healthcare consulting? What was your recruiting process like?

I knew that after college, I wanted to work in the healthcare industry. I am a licensed EMT and previously worked out the firehouse in a rural Wisconsin town where I responded to 911 calls. From that experience, as well as my business development internships, I found that healthcare consulting was the best way to combine my clinical background and business skill set.

I was excited to see an opportunity to join a boutique healthcare consulting firm on my school’s career website. After uploading my resume, I reached out to Pathstone to express my strong interest since I thought my skills aligned well. Through great conversations with Pathstone team members during the interview process, I was confident that Pathstone would allow me to grow both personally and professionally.

Is this job what you expected it to be?

Yes and no! I was correct in that I expected this role to be a great way to combine my skillsets and work with hospitals and hospital administrations to drive value. One thing that surprised me about Pathstone was the high level of focus on supply chain. However, it has been fascinating to learn and I am enjoying the opportunity to gain skills in supply chain.

What advice would you give college hires interested in consulting?

Consulting is a very broad job description, so choose which industry really appeals to you. I couldn’t see myself in a different consulting field given my strong interest in healthcare. Choosing the right industry will help you narrow down your search.

Where did you grow up

I grew up in Northbrook, Illinois so a short Metra ride from downtown Chicago. Being so close to Chicago, I grew up attending concerts and visiting museums with my family and friends in the city.

What would your ideal weekend in Chicago look like?

On Friday, I would go out to dinner with friends in the West Loop, ideally at Au Cheval or Cabra. I would walk around the city Saturday on the Lakeshore trail and either go to the beach or find somewhere to watch a Badger football game. On Sunday, I would explore some of my favorite museums in Chicago – including the Museum of Science & Industry and MCA.
