How did your educational background lead you to healthcare consulting?

I attended the University of Arizona for undergraduate and graduate school. I originally studied Nursing because I thought I wanted to go down the clinical avenue of healthcare. However, I decided nursing was not the right fit for me and switched to Public Health. I really enjoyed my undergraduate coursework and decided to pursue my master’s in public health too, which had a focus in epidemiology, biostatistics, and healthcare management.

During my master’s program, I worked for a home health agency, which allowed me to better understand patient care dynamics and expand my clinical knowledge. While I really liked the administrative side of healthcare, I wanted more of a challenge. Healthcare consulting was the perfect fit, as I was looking to combine my prior healthcare experiences with a data analytics role and directly impact hospital cost reductions.

What stood out to you most about Pathstone during the interviewing process? What made you interested in working here full time?

Coming from a field of study which emphasizes collaboration, I was searching for jobs that would allow me to maintain that supportive environment and develop meaningful relationships with my co-workers. Pathstone Partners is a very tight-knit firm and that continuously promotes our unique culture by planning a lot of social and community service events outside of work.

Additionally, the supply chain component of the job stood out to me during the interview process. Pathstone offers the ability to develop in many different work streams and learn about the various aspects of hospital operations, while also becoming an “expert” in specific areas.

What do you like to do outside of work?

During my free time, I love to be outside and stay active by running, cycling, and doing yoga. I have completed two half marathons, with my third being at the end of March. Exercising has not only been a great way to explore Chicago, but also other cities, such as Nashville and Charlotte.

You’re a frequent traveler – What is your favorite place you have visited and what is something still on your travel bucket list?

My favorite trip so far was to Cozumel, Mexico. As for my bucket list trip, I have never been to Europe before, and have an eight-destination trip booked this summer, which includes locations in France, Italy, Croatia, Greece, and Spain. I am most excited to visit Lake Como in Italy and try lots of different pasta dishes!

What is something you are passionate about, and why?

I am passionate about improving patient care in the American healthcare system. Studying Public Health opened my eyes to the range of factors that influence the accessibility of healthcare. I am always trying to increase my knowledge by reading articles and evaluating the current state of the industry to utilize within my work. Pathstone Partners has helped further my passion, as our purpose is to drive cost savings within healthcare systems to improve their patient care standards and make medicine more affordable and accessible to their respective communities.
