Where did you go to School and how did you decide your major?

I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University in North Carolina since it’s relatively close to home and has a strong academic reputation. I am originally from a small town in North Carolina, so the size of Wake Forest was appealing as well. I always enjoyed Math, so I pursued a degree in Mathematical Business even though I initially intended to go the medical school route. Organic chemistry scared me off!

What made you decide to go back to grad school?

After graduation, I worked at an actuarial firm for a couple of years. I quickly realized that it was not a fit for me in the long run. I was still interested in healthcare, so I decided to pursue an MBA and MHA dual degree from Georgia State University. The dual degree appealed to me because I wanted to have flexibility in my career and the option to leverage both degrees.

Why healthcare consulting?

A portion of my graduate program was doing administrative residency. I worked with Emory Healthcare for a year where I was exposed to healthcare operations in the Radiology areas.  From there I targeted healthcare consulting since I enjoyed the analytics and decision-support projects that I supported. I landed at Huron for my first consulting role and that led to many other great internal consulting roles. I’m grateful for the career path that was initiated through healthcare consulting.

What is one thing you’re good at/proud of, but doesn’t really matter to anyone else?

I love to bowl! I feel like it is an even playing field compared to certain athletic sports and I have a fair chance of winning.

What would you recommend to someone who is interested in consulting?

If you love to learn and thrive on problem-solving and collaboration, it could be a great fit! Consulting provides you with so many transferable skills and exposure to a wide range of organizations and industries. It is a great foundation for many careers and can help with determining and aligning your skills and interests.

You like going on tropical vacations – where is your favorite destination?

My most recent trip was to Aruba. I appreciated that it was super relaxing and laid back. My Spanish isn’t great, so I was glad communication wasn’t a challenge. My destination bucket list includes Bali and the Maldives so I can experience the huts on the water!

What is something that makes Pathstone unique from your perspective?

Pathstone is a very small firm compared to the relatively large organizations I worked for in the past. At Pathstone, it’s easy to get to know all the team members on an individual level, which I really enjoy. I also appreciate the opportunity to be more directly involved in practice development and firm growth.
