Where did you go to School and how did you decide your major?

I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and majored in Neurobiology. I decided to attend UW due to the combination of Wisconsin’s excellent academics and reputation as one of the best college town atmospheres in the country. I love how the city of Madison is built around the campus and the location between two lakes only adds to the experience.

I decided on my major since I was very interested in CTE and how football impacted the brain. I already had a passion for science and healthcare, so neurobiology was a perfect fit.

What was your recruiting process like?

I found Pathstone on Handshake. I knew I wanted to go into healthcare consulting since it was the perfect mix between my classes in both healthcare and business. The Chicago headquarters and Pathstone’s mission of helping deliver patient care really drew me in.

I had a phenomenal interview process since I was able to talk to the core team members virtually, which was great as opposed to having to record myself like some of my other interview processes. The case study was also interesting since it directly applied to the work we do and was healthcare focused.

Is the job what you expected? Why or why not?

Yes and no. Yes, in that there is a lot of use of data analytics and critical thinking to find opportunities. We really do help drive value for our clients, which is an experience I’m grateful for. No, in that I didn’t know the ins and outs of supply chain in healthcare, so there was a lot of learning about the sourcing process in healthcare.

What has been your favorite Chicago memory so far?

Going to watch college football at Wills, a Wisconsin bar in Chicago. I have a lot of my college friends in Chicago which has helped a ton with the transition post grad.

Why are you a Buccaneers fan?

I grew up in Wisconsin and went to my first NFL game when I was young in Green Bay at Lambeau field. Tampa Bay ended up beating Green Bay in a close game. Since it was such a core memory that the Buccaneers won that game, I told my family I would be a Buccaneers fan from that day on and I have been since.

What would your ideal weekend in Chicago be?

I would start my weekend on Friday by going out with friends in one of Chicago’s many neighborhoods. On Saturday morning, I would start the day by going to the gym and then walking along the Riverwalk. I would grab food along the Riverwalk and get together with friends to watch the Badgers play on Saturday. Finally, I would finish off my weekend watching the NFL on Sunday.
