Where do you go to school and how did you decide your major? How did you decide to attend IU?

I go to Indiana University, and I decided on IU because the campus is beautiful and there are a lot of opportunities as a student in the Kelley School of Business there. Go Hoosiers!

When I was growing up, both of my parents owned their own businesses, so I was familiar with business but when I got to IU there were so many choices for majors and co-majors that it was hard to decide. My freshman year was heavily affected by the pandemic and “supply chain” became a huge buzz word, ultimately drawing me in. Because supply chain management is so versatile, I decided to add two co-majors in sustainable business and leading DEI organizations to expand my knowledge base.

How did you choose healthcare consulting for your internship?

I was immediately drawn to consulting because it is the perfect combination of people skills and Intern Employee Spotlight: Maggie DePirroproblem solving, but I actually haven’t had any previous experiences in healthcare. However, I am really involved with IU’s chapter of Camp Kesem, an organization that provides support for children who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. I absolutely fell in love with the mission, and healthcare consulting was a great opportunity for me to utilize my skillset in a role that positively impacts patients like Kesem’s camper families.

What are you most excited about for your summer in Chicago?

I am most excited about exploring the city! I grew up in Northwest Indiana, not far from Chicago, but there’s so many things I haven’t gotten to see yet. A few things on my summer bucket list are to visit the Shedd Aquarium, go to a Cubs game, and to experience some of the concert venues in the city.

What is your proudest accomplishment of your undergraduate career thus far?

In May of 2023 I was awarded the AWESOME Excellence in Education Scholarship, a nation-wide scholarship for women in supply chain. I was really honored to be selected because only 20 recipients are chosen each year. I am excited for the opportunity to attend scholar events and to connect with women from across the country who are doing amazing things in supply chain.

What do you think is unique about Pathstone?

Without a doubt, the people and the culture. Pathstone is really unified through the company values and its apparent in everything they do, which really resonates with me. It’s unique to experience a firm that is so lively and friendly, and you can tell that everyone really cares about developing personal and professional relationships. Seriously though, at what other company does the founder offer to do a book-club with the interns?

Intern Employee Spotlight: Maggie DePirroWhat are your favorite activities to do outside of schoolwork and interning?

I was a competitive swimmer for years and years, so I love the water and activities like swimming, wakeboarding, and boating. Similarly, I like to hike, downhill ski, and just generally spend time outdoors. I’m also a pretty crafty person so when I’m at school I love to do artsy projects with my roommates!

If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chicken nuggets! I was a pretty picky eater growing up so I’m sure that at some point my parents assumed I would eat them for every meal for the rest of my life. Can you blame me? Only the best things in life come in dinosaur shapes.
